SECRETS OF THE EMERALD SEA

A marine biologist dives the Salish Sea, and provides his own amateur video footage of the remarkable creatures found there, including the Giant Pacific Octopus, the largest octopus in the world. See it on the Knowledge Network.

MEET THE WEST COAST “NEMO”

To excite children and have them fall in love the ocean, we followed the ping-pong sized Pacific spiny lumpsuckers (Eumicrotremus orbis), and created a stuffy in their honour. The tiny creatures with the laughably poor swimming skills, have a strong sucker disk that enables them to attach to rocks, kelp, and even eel grass. Our stuffy even has its own sucker disk. The popular toys were a huge hit with children and made for an unforgettable memory of the elusive hero of the story.
